Marvin Tate

Marvin Tate lives in the northwest community of Avondale. As a multidisciplinary artist, he has worn many hats, often combining and interchanging vocals and spoken word in an improvisational likeness to small and large ensembles. Eclectic and unpredictable, he has sung everything from spirituals to experimental improvisation. Themes that filter through his personal narratives are social justice, spirituality, love, and mortality. Building community has always been a part of his long term goal. He has curated several musical events in the Austin neighborhood, in which his family has lived for 45 years. His goal is to convert his home into an artist hub by 2023.
